If you want to do something different than what you do in a regular day, go visit Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville! 

Their mission: "The Gladys Porter Zoo is a visitor-oriented zoological and botanical park, dedicated to the preservation of nature through education, conservation and research."

More than 400,000 local people and tourists visit the Zoo annually. The Gladys Porter Zoo opened to the public on September 3, 1971. The facility was completely planned, built, stocked, equipped and then given to the City of Brownsville by the Earl C. Sams Foundation.

All About Food!

Hello RGV people!

Today's post will be a little bit different but interesting for those of you who love food!

Some people asked me to talk more about restaurants in the Valley so I decided Today's post will be all about restaurants for different occasions, such as quick-service restaurant, casual dinning  restaurant with table service and dinning restaurant for special occasions.

Prepare yourself to crave some delicious food while you scroll down! 

1. Whataburger


If you are in a hurry and want to eat something fast, Whataburger is an excellent place to go to. You can order your food and take a seat or use the drive thru, your choice!

Whataburger is a quick service restaurant and it is a family owned and operated business that first started in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1950. Above you can see the picture of the two floor Whataburger at Corpus Christi. 

On their menu they offer: burgers, salads, chicken tenders, desserts, snacks, drinks and shakes. Don't forget to check their new
Avocado Bacon Burger (see on picture above). 

Whataburger offers breakfast, lunch and dinner and yes, it is OPEN 24/7 just for you!

2. Mama's Pizzeria


Mama's Pizzeria is an inside and outdoors Italian casual dining restaurant that offers table service to their clients. They use recipes passed down from generations, the chefs at Mama’s Pizzeria create a menu from deep dish authentic Chicago style pizza’s to a cheeseburger and fries basket.

Mama's pizzeria started on 2007 and it is more known for their deep dish authentic Chicago style pizza, above you can see a picture of it.

So if you are thinking about going for lunch or dinner with your friends, family or your significant other to a different place, try Mama's Pizzeria.

1.  RGV Cupcake Factory:


RGV Cupcake Factory is a bakery where you can find different kind of cupcakes and desserts. It is well known for it's creative way of designing and baking their cupcakes and by naming them after famous stars like Charlie Sheen, Hugh Hefner, Katy Perry & Kim Kardashian.

3. IMAS - International Museum of Art and Science:


IMAS is the premier art and science museum of South Texas and contains over 50,000 square feet of exhibit space. The IMAS galleries host art and science exhibits each year. This museums does certain activities where they invite visitors to participate in hands-on science exhibits. Besides the exhibits they have each year, IMAS' Permanent Collection includes Folk Art, Fine Art, Decorative Art and a modest Geological Collection.                             

If you want to do something fun and different with your friends, couple or family, visit one of the exhibits at IMAS and take advantage of their Special Offer:

What can the Valley offer us?


Welcome to the RGV Bucket List Blog. This blog is meant to show all the interesting and fun things you can do in the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas and right across the border in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico.

My main focus is to keep you all informed of some of the coming events and the nice places including restaurants, parks and museums you can visit in the RGV. For all of you who are thinking what to do during the weekend or just on a normal day, I hope this blog can help you in getting some ideas.


The Valley does offer a lot of different things to do and we must take advantage of it :)!

1. Cinemark Bistro:



Cinemark Bistro just opened its doors to the public on Friday August 30th. It is located in Edinburg and it is the first Cinemark cinema in the USA that offers Dining Experience.

2. Zoologico de Reynosa:



Zoologico de Reynosa is a recreational park in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico. This place is located at the most nice and safe area from the Rio Bravo.


Some of the different activities they offer are: Safari, "La Granja del Tío Juan", which is a small farm where you can feed the animals, rides on horses and ponies, a Snack bar and a tour in the Pachamama.


Pachamama is what Zoologico de Reynosa is most known for, Pachamama is a word in Inca which means "Mother Earth". Pachamama is a Party Boat that offers a 50 minutes tour around the Rio Bravo. During the tour you will be listening to music and to brief touristic information of the area.

3. Marc Anthony in Concert:



Marc Anthony is a Latin singer and is one of the most well known salsa singers around the world.
